Title
Delmer Goode Oral History Interview (5 of 7)
Description
In the fifth installation of the Goode interview series, the interview begins with how Delmer met his wife and anecdotes of their family life. He shared a bit of her family history, stating that his wife’s maiden name, Whipple, is a historical one. The couple, at the time of this interview, had been married for fifty-three years. Once again, the topic of Goode returning to school to earn his graduate degree is discussed, this time with emphasis on developing his thesis.
Further in the interview, Goode expands upon the effects of World War II upon Oregon State College’s campus and Corvallis as a whole. He mentions the establishment of Camp Adair and explains how the influx of people affected the surrounding towns, especially Corvallis. Goode is also asked by the interviewer how the various passing of friends has made him feel and he responds with poignant sentiments.
