Description
On the first page, Raniskey writes that he is thankful that his uncle wrote to him and how he would like to "come home this fall." He describes how he has taken a piece of land on the Sacramento River and that "times are rather hard here at present." He includes that, "wages are... fifty to seventy five dollars per month."
On the second page, Raniskey discusses marriage. He writes, "I sometimes think I would like to have a wife... and then again I think az [sic] you do they are more cost than prophet [sic]." He also asks about the "folks at home." The letter concludes with, "no more at present but remain yours until death."
