Dr. A. Einstein, Chairman Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Inc. Room 28, 90 Massau Street Princeton, New Jersey
Dear Dr. Einstein: This is a reply to your appeal of date April 22, 1947, for funds "to carry to our fellow citizens an understanding of the simple facts fo atomic energy and tehir implications for society." Congratulations on this recognition of the need, and the assumption of responsibility. I enclose a small contribution. May I make a suggestion? It is that your committee add to its membership a few persons from the field of the social sciences and see if they can strengthen the work proposed. I need not go into lengthy argument about this matter. It ought to be obvious that such persons ought to make a contribution.
Very truly yours, A.R. Mead, Director Educational Research
