820 Second Place Plainfield, N.J. 7 March 1947
Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Inc 90 Nassau Street Princeton, N.J.
I am enclosing $1.00 as part of my contribution to the work of your committee. I have been interested in it since it was first announced on 18 November 1946. I regret that it cannot be larger at this time but since my only income is my subsistence allowance under the G.I. Bill, I do not feel I can make a larger gift for the present. Any other contribution I can make will be indirect, for I am writing my master's thesis in the general field of the social aspects of nuclear physics and in that process I am one of those who are becoming acquainted with the facts of atomic energy
Sincerely yours, T.C. Esselstyn
