Albert Einstein, Chairman Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Incorporated 90 Nassau Street, Princeton, N.J.
Dear Mr. Einstein,
I am happy to help the Emergency Committee in a litte way with its educational work. I believe that it is absolutely good and essential to inform the public of the facts of the atomic age. But telling the facts of atomic war will not bring the ultimate elimination of war that is essential for our continued existence. These facts will only breed fear, and fear is a cause of war! Only as a spirit of love and good will becomes incarnated in the life of the individual or nation can we hope to live. Ours is a greater task than simply telling facts. Our task is building characters that will never war with each other, a veritable Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Most sincerely, Leland R. Standing
