Attention: Dr. Einstein

Dear Dr. Einstein:

If the Russian people could be reached with the truth, the problem would be easy. I felt that with all the vast resources of Russia, Stalin and his associates would be glad to live in peace and develop those resources for the benefit of the Russian people. The end of the war proved that theory to be incorrect.
The Russian leaders are too well informed to believe that we wanted anything but peace with them when the war ended. I do not believe they think we had any designs on their country, or as you put it, were suspicious of us. They are determined to force their idea of government on us. In other words they have set out to out do Hitler and rule the world.
Their leaders, their press, and their radio, continually lie to their own people and poison them against the balance of the world, they do not now control. For myself if it is a choice between accepting their rule or a battle to a finish, I will take the battle and I think most Americans will make the same choice.
If your group can devise any way to reach the Russian people, the situation may be saved. If that connot be done I favor standing up to them on every front and the sooner we have the show down the better.

Sincerely

 C Y Semple
