Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Room 28 90 Nassau Street Princeton New Jersey

Attention: Professor Albert Einstein

Dear Sir: I feel, since receiving your letter, that the first intelligent steps are being taken toward world peace. Surely through education - the people must come to understand just what atomic energy CAN mean to a world at peace and what it WILL mean to a world at war.

I am enclosing a list of people whom I am sure will also be interested in your endeavors.

My honest feeling is - that it is more or less up to the Scientists - because we KNOW what will happen if the Atom Bomb continues to be used, as it now is, as a political instrument. The people, from all I hear, are fast losing faith in Congress - and that faith must be transferred to the Scientists.

Sincerely,

JANE LORING 5930 Franklin Avenue Hollywood California
