Over the course of the interview, Allworth recounts her childhood at the turn of the century, focusing on aspects of life that have changed since her youth including family, fashion, morals, careers for women, and the consumption of alcohol.
She then talks about the challenges brought about by her family's move from California to Corvallis in 1910, and her memories of growing up on a farm at the turn of the century. She discusses her parents' character and the values they instilled in her, and speaks to the concept of having elderly parents live with their children. She also emphasizes, for much of her life, homemaking was the primary career option for women. She likewise mentions that it was absolutely unheard of to attend beer parties in college, and she explicitly states her opinion on alcohol.
Allworth next talks about why she chose to attend Oregon Agricultural College, and details the courses that she took, as well as conversations that she had with the Home Economics Dean, Ava B. Milam. The interview concludes with memories of the home that Peggy shared with her husband Edward when they first moved to Corvallis, and notes on Edward's work with the Memorial Union building.
