Title
Minerva Kiger Reynolds Oral History Interview (2 of 2)
Description
Minerva Kiger Reynolds, a graduate of Oregon State University as well as a lifetime resident of Corvallis, left a lasting impression on the community. The author of two books, "Kiger Gorge" and "Corvallis in 1900," Reynolds brought to life a viewpoint of Corvallis in the past. Thanks to her contribution, readers have the opportunity to glimpse what early twentieth century was like. Reynolds was born and raised in Corvallis and begins her interview here. She succinctly recollects her early family life. The youngest of three, Reynolds had two older brothers.
She also tells the tale of how her book Kiger Gorge came to be published. Reynolds had probed around town but could not find anyone to publish her work. Finally, an acquaintance who had worked for Edwin Jackman suggested that she talk to him about publishing her work. Jackman was well known for his work writing about Eastern Oregon and was able to help Reynolds. She also shared tidbits from her time at OAC, and fondly remembers taking History from Professor Horner.
