Title
News Nob Sign.
Description
Sign reads: "This is NEWS NOB where on April 22, 1952, the American Press & Radio first covered, and the Nation first viewed by the medium of Television, the firing of a nuclear device generally known as 'Operation Big Shot.'
"NEWS NOB received its name when Tom Sherrod, one of that finer breed of men known as 'construction stiffs' took a weather-beaten board with a door-knob attached from an old outdoor 'privy,' painted across it in yellow 'NEWS NOB' and planted it at this point.
"The board is gone but the memory lingers on."
