Scope and Content Note

Collection consists of a laboratory notebook used for chemistry laboratory exercises during 1921-1922. It includes procedures, sketches of apparatus, equations, results, and evaluations by instructor. Of especial note are fabric swatches from a textile dyeing exercise. These laboratory exercises may have been done as a part of the Household Chemistry course (Ch 111, 112, 113).

Biographical Note

Alumna Alfie Adele Nelson graduated from Oregon Agricultural College in 1924 with a B.S. in Home Economics. Originally from Portland, she attended OAC for 4 years from 1920/21 through 1923/24. She returned to Portland after graduation and later became known by the name of Alfie Nelson Maltby.
